Big Brothers Big Sisters of America

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering positive change in the lives of children facing adversity. Through its one-to-one mentorship programs, BBBS empowers youth to realize their potential by pairing them with caring adult volunteers, known as "Bigs." These life-changing relationships help young people build confidence, improve academic performance, and develop essential life skills. BBBS has a proven track record of reducing risky behaviors, increasing graduation rates, and promoting mental well-being among mentees. Through their “Big Futures” program, BBBS seeks to provide students with communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and goal setting skills, partnering with various external organizations to assist in streamlining post-graduate employment for students. The impact of the organization is significant, as it helps break the cycle of poverty, reduces youth involvement in risky behaviors, and creates opportunities for a brighter future for at-risk youth in the greater community.
